About Us
The EMS Flight Shears™ were conceived of, designed and patented by two physicians with many years of EMS experience both in the field and in hospital.
Scott Forman is in his final year as an Emergency Medicine resident, training at the University of New Mexico Hospital, the state’s only level 1 trauma and high acuity tertiary care center, serving NM, southern Colorado, west Texas and eastern Arizona with a volume of nearly 100,000 patients per year. Prior to medical school, Scott spent many years as an international high altitude mountain guide and technical climbing instructor. He also worked as a W-EMT and wilderness medicine program developer and educator before working as an EMT in a hospital emergency department in Colorado.
Anthony Junck is a senior radiology resident at the Louisiana Health Science University in Shreveport, LA. Many years prior to medical school, Anthony discovered the sport of spearfishing. Soon after purchasing his first Palauan-style speargun, he noted features that could be improved, and found his first incentive to invent. His experiences as a oceanic free diver and spearfisherman, combined with his medical education, later led him to patent a concept for a unique free diving snorkel design intended to improve ventilation.
Adroit Innovation Mission Statement
Delivering the highest quality health care is often a challenge. In both the field and institutional medical centers, speed and efficiency can improve medical outcomes, yet complex tools for highly specific purposes are often more readily available than the more simple tools required by primary care responders. Adroit’s founders believe that simple solutions can often alleviate the inefficiencies inherent in some of today’s basic medical tools. Adroit Innovation will seek to enhance the tools of primary responders through designs that support the needs of primary caregivers and recognize the challenges of their environment.
